County Longford school tour options are now highlighted in our new School Tour brochure. Longford has a variety of interesting and educational places to visit from the Knights and Conquests Heritage Centre to the Backstage Theatre. To highlight the school tour options, Longford Tourism funded by Fáilte Ireland have compiled a comprehensive brochure showcasing some of Longford’s attractions suitable for school tours.

The colourful brochure was designed by RustyLemon Design and has been distributed to schools in Counties Longford, Leitrim, Roscommon, Cavan, Westmeath and Offaly.

The finished brochure details different options available for schools to visit County Longford. Anyone who is interested can pick up a brochure from the Longford Tourism Office or if you wish you may contact Longford Tourism, and it can be sent via post. It is also available from the Maps & Brochures section of Longford.ie

Pictured here is Michéal Carrigy, Chairperson of Longford Tourism outside Rose Cottage in Ballinalee, which is part of the Longford Rebel Trail. Rose Cottage is to be officially opened on Sunday November 12th by An Taoiseach at 3pm. The Longford Rebel Trail is one of three driving trails in the County. This trail through the North of County Longford has QR codes available at each stop giving the visitor an option to listen to the story in English, Irish and French.

Also pictured is Matt Farrell from the Maria Egeworth Centre with a group of Children from St. John’s NS in Edgeworthstown on a recent school tour to the visitor centre. The Old Schoolhouse in Edgeworthstown has been refurbished into the Maria Edgeworth centre.  Visitors can use multilingual audio guides to listen to a representative selection of Maria’s famous friends in the Picture Gallery. An interactive magic blackboard in the refurbished Victorian schoolroom provides for an educational and fun visit for school tours and presents the evolution of Ireland’s National School system.
