Arrive at The Local Pub & Lodge  self catering apartments in Newtowncashel and check in. 

11:30am – 11:45am   

Drive to Lanesborough (13km)

Boat trip on Access for All boat taking in Saints Island, Lough Ree and the River Shannon

1.00pm - 2.15pm    

Lunch in Adies Bar and Restaurant 

Locally made Lough Ree Gin also available for buying from the Distillery or from the local Supervalu. 

2.15pm - 3.15pm        

Enjoy a walk around Commons Woodland Trail

3.15pm - 4.15pm       

Drive to Barley Harbour (17.5km) and take in the peaceful sights and sounds of this lovely scenic place

4.30pm       

Check out the collection of the renowned scultptors Michael & Keven Casey at Casey's Bog Oak right beside the entrance to Barley Harbour. You might want to bring a gift to a loved one.

5.15pm - 6.45pm

Unpack, unwind and prepare for dinner

7pm - 10pm

Transfer to Ballymahon  (16km) and enjoy dinner, drinks and live music at Skelly's Bar. 

Make your way back to Newtowncashel where there might hear some live music at The Local Pub & Lodge

Day 2
10.00am     

Check out of Local Lodge apartments                                             

10.15am - 11.00am  

Transfer to Ballymahon (16km) and enjoy breakfast in Wilder & Gold Cafe

11:00pm –12:30pm   

Visit Ballymahon Library and pick up a EZxploring map brochure. Explore Ballymahon town in a fun way. 

 12:30pm - 2:00pm

Enjoy a leisurely lunch in Cooney's Hotel

2:00pm

Drive to Saints Island (11km) and visit the ruins of the Augustinian Priory dating back to 542AD. Enjoy the tranquility of this peaceful spot.

Depart for home

The Royal Canal Greenway & National Famine Way can also be explored with a fun EZxploring map which will be available from Ballymahon Library  or why not take the scenic route home on the Mid Shannon Driving Trail?
