Pulliness Waterfall & Trail

boardwalk-Copy

Beautiful 2km walking trail commencing at Colmcille Community Centre car park and finishing at Pulliness Waterfall. Dogs allowed. The community walkway leads to the serene waterfall, a lovely place to escape to for peace and quiet in North Longford.  Developed in association with the Colmcille Area Development Group CADG with assistance from Longford County Council.
An interesting feature is a modern water turbine generating power for subtle LED lights on the deck; in the 1930s, a water turbine generated power for the old post office in the village.

For more information on Pulliness Waterfall Trail please see Sport Ireland - Longford Trails.

Points of Interest: The lakes of the Upper Erne system and Gowna are only a few minutes drive away, while in the other direction are the many lakes, which straddle the Longford Leitrim border.

Two impressive megalithic tombs or dolmens can be found nearby, one of which is the third biggest of its kind in Ireland.  Dolmens were erected by the earliest inhabitants of Ireland who settled here between 4000 and 3000 B.C. and continued to inhabit the land up to 2000 B.C.

Pay a visit to nearby Leebeen Park, it offers a variety of activities and is open to everyone. There is a playground and fairy garden to keep the little ones happy along with green gym outdoor exercise equipment and picnic benches, a lovely relaxing place for all.  The short looped walk of 1.5 kilometres runs alongside the playground with a boardwalk along and over the lake.  The lake is home to beautiful wildlife including swans.
