The Longford Tourism Strategy was launched on Thursday evening 1st February. This strategy is a roadmap for Tourism in County Longford up to and including 2027. The strategy is available for viewing by clicking here.

Sustainable tourism forms the basis of this strategy accounting for the needs of visitors, tourism industry stakeholders, local communities, and the environment. The key tourism assets in Longford are outlined and Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands vision and objectives are highlighted along with the relevant policies and plans that this strategy supports. County Longford has many strengths, opportunities and challenges, all of which are outlined in this document. A consultation process was held to gather data in the form of surveys, public consultation, the tourism committee and stakeholders.

The Strategy is structured as follows:

Section 1: Overview & Context

Section 2: Tourism Vision

Section 3: Achieving our Vision: Strategy Approach

Section 4: Longford Tourism Vision Projects

Section 5: Promoting Tourism in Longford

Section 6: Implementation & Measuring Success

Promoting County Longford includes representing the County at trade events that provide the appropriate platform to engage with its target audiences. This falls under section 5 above.

Longford Tourism attended Holiday World in the RDS on January 26th, 27th and 28th. The Holiday World Show is firmly established as Ireland's largest and best attended annual public exhibition. The event is a rich global marketplace for deals and destinations, featuring exhibitors from close to home and from all four corners of the world and presenting just about every style of vacation experience, alongside an array of travel-themed entertainment, complimented by competitions, attractions and special show-only offers.

County Longford was well received at this event with a particular interest in our wonderful trails.

Overall, this new County Longford Tourism Strategy is about developing a connected sustainable tourism destination.
